SHPE CEO
On behalf of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ entire network and family, I welcome your participation in the 2010 SHPE Conference. Each year, more than 5,000 Hispanic students, professionals, corporate representatives, educators and community leaders from throughout the United States come together at the SHPE Conference. You are in good company!
At the Conference, you will find an incredible lineup of educational, technical, networking and career programs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). You will also be part of the vision to provide our nation with the innovators of the future … the Hispanic talent of tomorrow in STEM fields.
I acknowledge our amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to make the SHPE Conference the premier national technical conference. I thank the committee for their brilliant efforts in organizing all the details that go into the Conference. And, on behalf of the SHPE National Board of Directors, I thank and salute our Industrial PartnerSHPE Council (IPC) members, and our sponsors – those companies who work shoulder to shoulder with SHPE in close partnership, with an extraordinary commitment to supporting the vision of SHPE: to enhance and achieve the potential of Hispanics in science, technology, engineering and math.

Leonard Abeyta
2010 Conference Chair
As the Chair of the Organizing Committee it is my honor to welcome all of you to the 2010 SHPE National Conference.
When the opportunity was afforded to me to chair this year’s conference I did not hesitate. I have been a participant or planning member of SHPE’s national conferences for nearly 20 years. I have seen firsthand the success SHPE has had in bringing people and communities together that subscribe to the principles of SHPE to be the Source for Quality Hispanic Engineers and Technical Talent. This year we have the privilege to be hosted in the vibrant city of Cincinnati and supported by a strong base of corporate sponsors and exhibitors. The planning committee of dedicated volunteers and staff members is diligently working to deliver innovative programs, competitions and events for pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate students. We will also offer a professional program that not only improves your core skills but provides opportunities to earn credits toward professional certification. Our exciting conference culminates with the Career Expo where we bring together the best companies and brightest engineers and technical talent. I encourage you to come see Cincinnati, make lifelong connections, learn, find your next job and get inspired the way I have been doing for so many years.* Conference Registration Deadline: Oct 1, 2010
